  1. I was so much younger then – I’m older than that now. Early days at Melody Maker – David Stubbs

On when he joined the Maker in the late 80s. I read it, rather than NME, because the local library got it in. (via Warren Ellis)

  2. 80’s students, what films were your film society showing then? | Ask MetaFilter

I like the idea of working out, or remembering, what films were considered classic/interesting at a specific point in the past.

  3. Archived Music Press | Scans from the Melody Maker and N.M.E. circa 1987-1996

Lots of blasts from the past here. The couple of copies of MM/NME that I still have are intriguing, mainly the small and unimportant bits rather than the high-profile interviews etc usually featured here.

  4. Apple’s 1980s clothing catalogue in pictures - Telegraph

I expect everyone has or will link to this, but I bet I’ll want to look at it again at some point. Also, supports my idea that anything from, say, 15+ years ago that appears online looks *very* old.

  5. BLDGBLOG: A Design History of Military Airspace

“A volumetric rendering of military airspace in East Germany during the 1980s, as imaged in Google Earth.” Mapping historical, invisible, 3D spaces. Must be good.

  6. Spotify playlist: Chart Hits 83

I made a playlist of that K-Tel double cassette compilation I was banging on about a while back. A few omissions, but otherwise it’s all there.

  7. Notes.husk.org. The show, which is currently in production with an….

BBC4 “comedy drama” about the rivalry between Sir Clive Sinclair and Acorn Computers head Chris Curry. Why a sodding *comedy* drama? Let’s laugh at the funny 1980s and their silly computers! Well, might be good.

  8. Citadel Miniatures

Proof that large chunks of my memories will sooner or later appear, scanned, online. Fantastic.

  9. Flickr: mills70’s photos tagged with rickstones

I’m enjoying Ted’s photos from our school in the 1980s. Fashions were strange weren’t they.

  10. 1,500 of Your Favorite 80’s Videos!

No idea why it’s at that domain, but there’s enough there to pretend you’re a guest on your own “I Love the 1980s” clip show. (via Ted Mills)
