Ian Nairn - The Poet of Subtopia

At Barbican Centre on .

Part of the "Urban Wandering" season.

"Ian Nairn’s London (1966) showed its viewers how to see the city and its architecture in a new light, and tonight we present a celebration of the work of the pioneering architecture critic and topographer.

The evening includes screenings of his rare documentary on Pimlico (The Pacemakers, 1970) and episodes of the BBC series Nairn's Travels (1970), alongside a panel discussion with English Heritage's Elain Harwood, writers Owen Hatherley (New Ruins Of Great Britain) and Travis Elborough, and Ian Nairn's biographer Gillian Darley.
