PreviousIndexNext Paris photos and Kyupi Kyupi

Last weekend we went to Paris for a few days and I took some nice photos.

While in the city we went to Palais de Tokyo, which is a wonderful and cavernous art space. The best thing there was The Wide Show, a series of hyperactive, kaleidoscopic short films by Kyupi Kyupi which were fantastically fun in that crazy Japanese way.

The building also featured one of the simplest works of art I’ve seen: the gents’ toilet door said “Hommes” and displayed a blocky pixelated woman; the ladies’ toilet said “Dames” and featured a man. Of course, everyone was confused and slightly embarrassed, but usually in an amused fashion. And it made me wonder whether different people trust words or images more; relying on the words was the correct choice.
