  1. Introducing Stack Overflow Trends - Stack Overflow Blog

Fascinating, particularly as the popularity of languages and frameworks over time is something one is vaguely aware of but never with much certainty. (via Daring Fireball)

@jamesjefferies I’ve really liked it when I’ve tried before. There’s just been one or two tiny things I missed from vim. But maybe this time…

@vero_greenwood It means results aren’t being returned from Google. You can get the same results on Google- search for “site:pepysdiary.com bruise”

@vero_greenwood You should get a “No results” message if it searches but can’t find anything.

@vero_greenwood If it’s sometimes blank but other times works, it’s more likely a problem stopping results from loading.

@vero_greenwood Do you use any adblocking plugins? I use Ghostery and had to allow the Google Custom Search API and Google AJAX Search API, or it was blank.

@vero_greenwood I get lots of results for that - do you get nothing? Do you get results for other words?

@vero_greenwood Sorry not really. It just uses Google’s search. I’d like to make it better but haven’t found time.Any examples of words that can’t be found?

@dracos @infovore Thanks, lots to fiddle with! Here’s my set-up, some of which I can’t remember much about: github.com/philgyford/dot…

@dracos @infovore Having a nice search/replace interface (especially across a project) is quite a novelty. (Any top tips are welcome Matthew!)

@infovore It’s that kind of magic I use so rarely I can never remember it. Atom’s ‘vim-mode-plus’ gets me most of the way there… but is “most” enough?

Sound the horns! It’s time for my annual “Maybe I should give modern Atom a try instead of olde MacVim”. Please keep a respectful silence.

just in case you were wondering, this is what happens when you repeatedly run FaceApp’s smile filter until it can't detect a face anymore
