  1. UK Election Quiz

I Side With’s quiz came out best in Francis Irving’s roundup. I got 97% Labour, 94% Green. “Your political beliefs would be considered extremely Left-Wing and strongly Authoritarian”.

  2. “I find politics inaccessible”: User testing voter advice apps : Francis Irving

Francis Irving tests out a load of “Who should I vote for?” websites.

  3. David Chase on The Sopranos ending

I love the detail about every shot and cut. (Linking to Kottke so you get a link to the scene itself too.)

  4. Bootstrap Slack

I’m enjoying @mdo’s public Slack channel for Bootstrap. So much nicer than IRC.

@indec I’d heard of the practice but didn’t realise it had a name. Thanks!

@jonty I wanted ArgumentTi.me to exist - a forum devoted solely to contentious, polarising topics.

@mildlydiverting @tomstuart @frankieroberto I’d like that but… I fear there‘re so many variations on the answer “simple” is impossible :(

    @Alby It wasn’t a few minutes ago via isitdownrightnow.com

(That’s probably a feature of modern blog platforms… show all pedants an “error” rather than let them comment.)

One of those days… comment on @HENLEYDARREN / @ace_national’s use of ‘blog’ (they mean ‘blog post’) and get SQL error

    Smashing.

@tomstuart This all reminds me of your “it’s all getting too complicated” stuff. It’s a long way from FTPing some PHP to a shared host :)

@jamesjefferies @tomstuart Looks good, but too pricey for my particular need.

@marks “Could do it” vs “Have any interest or pleasure in doing it”. If I have to know what kind of unix I’m using, it’s too much for me!

@frankieroberto Yes, that stood out as being an odd thing. I guess it’s saying Free is definitely dev, not necessarily small/fun.

@marks I haven’t… I always thought something like Digital Ocean requires more sysadminning than I’m prepared to deal with. I might be wrong…

  • philgyford’s avatar

@tomstuart But I don’t want to do any sysadminning on a live server, so might move it to Webfaction where my other stuff is.

@tomstuart I’m particularly thinking about Pepys. I was already wondering about moving it as I have to pay for the DB; this might tip me.

And having got a Heroku-oriented box working, sounds like their pricing might change, so I might move anyway notes.ericjiang.com/posts/881 Ah well.

(Probably plenty of things wrong or less-than-ideal with it of course. But still.)

Got my first ever Vagrant box working nicely github.com/philgyford/vag… I usually try and avoid sysadmin stuff, so very pleased with myself.

@FakeDaveGreen Maybe it’s like how normal people seek out similar folk to form social groups? Are they the jocks of the superhero world?

@rwreynard I really like that album - hope you had a good time!

If Ed Miliband becomes PM, I hope his first press conference is just him eating a pile of bacon sandwiches while giving everyone the finger
